What
guitarists, Guitar Magazines, & songwriters are saying
about...

"Denny, Met you at TPS in March 2006 and
purchased your dvd. Well, you did it again! Wrote a new song
the other day that I was excited about but couldn’t
replicate on my guitar what I was hearing in my head. Pulled
out your dvd set and started looking for a lick that would
approximate what I was hearing …. And lo and behold, there
it was! Exactly what I was hearing in my head, only I didn’t
have the chops in my bag of tricks.
Well … I do now!
This is the best money I’ve spent in years! I love your
product! Thanks so much for creating it, thanks for
presenting it to us at TPS, and thanks for being so genuine
and friendly! I hope to be back in town again next year and
I hope I see you there! I want to shake your hand again!"/

“I received my DVD about a week ago and I
haven't been able to do anything else but watch it, practice
with it, and learn from it. I feel it's helped me a lot
already and I've only had it a week. The worksheets are very
clear and easy to understand. Great job!”

Denny,
It's great! I have over a hundred guitar lessons at the
touch of a button. For less than I paid for one. The
Lictionary takes complicated sounding Nashville guitar licks
and makes them remarkably easy to learn. Popular finger
picking patterns. Cool strumming techniques. Now my guitar
sounds like three different instruments. Thanks,
Brad Rowe

I love Lick*tionary! I took your class at
Songposium last year, and left there totally motivated. The
DVD is easy to watch, and presents a lifetime of guitar
techniques in a concise package. I wrote three new songs
within two days using what I learned, all three of which
were completely different from what I usually write! I am
still using your Lick*tionary techniques regularly. It was
amazing, I was introduced to new licks, and also reunited
with the concepts that I had already learned but were buried
under my mundane, comfortable guitar routine. I am an
intermediate guitar player, and found even the most complex
techniques on the DVD well explained and easy to apply.
Thank you for elevating my playing!

"Denny is going to help make you a
better guitar player and a better songwriter. I know a
lot of people who are good players..... that will testify
that Denny's "Lick*tionary" techniques take them to another
level. Instruction, inspiration and a new enthusiasm
for playing is what you will get with this product."

“Hey Denny......I watched the DVD and
thought it was great. Very informative and to the point.
I've already recommended it for a couple of new artists I’ve
been producing to help them get over some hurdles that they
have been struggling with. Well worth the money. Thanks.

“I have never, in 13 years, used my
(Wilhagans Songwriter’s Nights) email to "advertise"
anything before, but I have found something I think is worth
mentioning to you - "Licktionary", a new DVD by Denny
Sarokin. it's a comprehensive collection of every little
nugget of info about accompanying yourself and others. There
is SO much here, from chords and chord groupings to grooves,
to open tunings to a section of stylistic rhythm
playing...blues, finger-style, even Bossa Nova. I really
think there is something for everyone here - plenty of
basics for beginners, and loads of "aha" moments for even
the most lick-weary veteran picker. I started trying to
follow along with the most basic of Chet Atkins-style
excercises in this video - it is going to change my playing
forever, and I can't wait!”

"Denny, wanted to send you a line to let you
know that I think the DVD program , "Lick*tionary" is
GREAT!!! In just a couple of days I was fingerpicking, not
like a pro but I was doing it!!! The ability to watch a
segment over and over makes learning a new chord, riff or
lick easier than if I was in a 30 minute private lesson and
then go home and try to remember what I saw or heard. That's
the other thing that works for me, my work schedule doesn't
allow much time to schedule lessons, with "Lick*Tionary", my
lesson is ready when I am, noon, evening, midnight!!!
Your presentation is simple enough for a
beginner like me, but also advanced enough that I'll still
be watching and learning years from now. Thanks again and
always for helping me with one of my dreams, one day playing
my guitar like a pro!!!"

I had been playing guitar for 40 years when
I purchased "Lictionary" in 2005. As a songwriter I thought
that my playing was already "good enough". I was mistaken.
The Lictionary DVD taught me so many new avenues to freshen
up my writing and add those little touches that push a song
over the top. When you take what Denny shows you - and then
listen to current radio - you'll find a whole toolbox full
of ideas to use that will help you raise up your songs to
the next level. I highly recommend this product."

Denny Sarokin
• Lick*tionary
We must first make it clear that this DVD
set is focused on the singer/songwriter and does not really
relate to solo instrumental guitar playing. That being said,
Lick*tionary is very insightful for the beginner or
intermediate player who aspires to fill in some gaps as it
pertains to accompaniment of a singer.
Denny has done a good job analyzing the
fills, grooves, picking patterns chord structures, bass
lines and books found in much of past and present popular
music. His examples are well explained and executed, and
easily applied.
A few of the subjects Denny covers are
common chord progressions, alternating bass, and moving bass
lines that connect theses common chord progressions. Other
subjects include basic fingerpicking patterns, moving chord
shapes, using the capo, muting and the attach of the pick
and/or fingers to create the desired musical effect.
In the sections, Rhythm Grooves,
Denny breaks down the techniques of rhythm guitar as it
relates to several styles such as pop, bluegrass,
rockabilly, rock, bossa nova and Celtic In this section
Denny has done a good job in explaining not only the
techniques but the rhythmic differences in these styles,
Examples of playing dynamically as applied to each are of
great interest.
Lick*tionary should be useful for the
aspiring sing/songwriter who is looking to tune up their
skills and understanding of accompaniment.
