Denny teaching a workshop

LICK*TIONARY - The Songwriter's Guide To Great Guitar! - DVD

After years of giving private lessons and regional workshops, Denny has condensed the best of his teaching techniques into a 2-disc, 3 hr. DVD, “LICK*TIONARY - The Songwriters Guide To Great Guitar!” - a street smart, power packed video designed to help songwriters (or people who just love to play their favorite classic songs) build a “Technique Toolbox” of Hot Licks, Cool Tricks, & Great Grooves. He has given live “LICK*TIONARY” workshops for Nashville Songwriters Assoc. Int’l, Tennessee Songwriters Assoc., and The National Guitar Workshop.

Private lessons and one-on-one workshops are available in the Nashville area.

SONGWRITERS

The guitar’s more than just an instrument - it should be your co-writer , constantly helping you create new melodies, rhythms, and arrangements.

By breaking down the techniques of classic singer-songwriters, Denny teaches you how to play “out of the box” and make your guitar sound like a whole band!

Topics include Classic Chord Progressions & Rhythms Grooves, Fingerstyle, Moving Bass Lines, “Sexy” Scales, Playing Lead, “Power” Chords, Muting, .... & More!

Beginners to Advanced - even if you DON’T play, this is a great chance to learn how to better communicate with your co-writers and session musicians.

WORKSHOPS

I am available for private and group seminars on guitar playing and songwriting. E-mail me for information about starting one in your area.

BEGINNERS

Learning the guitar is a life long process. But too many people begin lessons, only to become frustrated by scales, sight reading, and theory. They become overwhelmed by the time obligation and the helpless feeling of, "I could never be as good as him" , and drop out. There's no substitute for practice, but practice is more fun if you're MAKING MUSIC while you learn!

That's why from the first lesson, you'll learn to apply basic chords, strums, and fingerpicking patterns to some of your favorite songs. By building up a database of songs that are fun to play and sing, you develop your ability to play "by ear" and accelerate your learning curve!
